Olivier Lejeune is a sought after producer in the region of Anjou on the river Loire. This is a very limited production and a gorgeous blend of Cabernet Franc and Grolleau. This new vintage is beautifully textured, with the perfect balance of juice from the Grolleau and savouriness from the Cabernet Franc.
50% of the grapes were de-stemmed by hand and kept as intact as possible. They were lightly crushed by foot, then fermentation was kicked off in fiberglass tanks with roughly 50% whole bunch. Maceration lasted for 13 days but with no punchdowns or pumpovers, a pure ‘infusion.’ After a very gentle press the wine was left untouched in tank for 8 months, then bottled with a small sulphite addition.
